Glenda vs. The Wicked Witch of the West (W.W.ofW.)

Just popping in quickly this morning to let you all know.....Yesterday, was a very crazy day here. Unfortunately, Glenda disappeared and the W.W.of W. came out. This doesn't happen very often, actually hardly at all. Only, when it gets down to principal. Yesterday, we got to principal on three things rather quickly. One being the wrong window installed right here by the desk where I look out at my garden.....icks, not the window to get wrong.  With all the windows they got the screen wrong here.

Of course, this morning I've got my bat out betting myself up and sheepishly walking around like a scolded puppy for being such a B....h..  But, of course, with the W.W. of W. coming out all the boys are back on track today and watching their P.s and Q.s...  I'm now assured the window will be taken care of.

Boy, would I love to be able to have a little glass of vino and just chill on the deck.
Oh, do I miss the joys of summer.

Not a lot of time to take any new pictures.

But, being from Chicago we know how to through a dinner together very quickly.

Yes, the Crock pot has come out

One of the standard affairs in Chicago for eating is....

ITALIAN BEEF

Of course, those of us who live here, know how to quickly throw this together.
I'll let you in on our secret.

Roast in the Crock
1 or 2 Boxes of Beef Broth.
Package of Italian Salad Dressing Seasoning, Dry
One jar of hot Giardinnera
Start on low early in the morning
Let it ripe for about 8 hours.

Remember to remove strings.  Fat side up.

Then it's pretty much sprinkle and dump.

Remember to serve on good Chicago Style Italian Rolls.  We also add some lightly sauteed Green Peppers and Onions on top.

Now, doesn't this sound like a great de-stressing dinner.
OK, so it not healthy, but good for the soul.

Boy, what I wouldn't give to just sitting outside all snuggled up in a pile of yarn.

Wow.... I just realized I still have the border to do on

THE MANLY ONE

Remember him from way back.  Now, just where to find him in the house is another matter.

I don't know about anybody else....but I just switched over to the EDIT HTML to check on one of the pictures and now I'm seeing a spell checker....yipppppppppeeeeeee. This is a very "Good Thing". Glenda is now happy.

TODAY TRIVIA:

What was Dorthy's Last Name?

What were the name of the three farm hands that turned into
The Scarecrow?
The TinMan?
The Cowardly Lion?

Who was originally cast as the Tinman?

Get out the movie and watch it.......

Anyone ever watch this to the Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" album
Start at the second rooooaaaarr of the MGM Lion.  It's a classic "70s" thing.

Cheers to All!!!!!!!!!!

Sneaking In To Show You "Eenie"-Updated with Yarn Name

Just popping by to show you all that I have not completely lost myself in the project.

Thank-you all for your kind words of encourgement over the last few days.  It has made the world of difference to know I have my secret bloghood buddies keeping cheered up when I need it most.

The name is here.  You all picked it, as you all loved it.

"Eenie"
is finished.  One gift behind me.

I know you can get this online, but I bought at my favorite yarn shop.  It's great to work with and I even used a larger I hook.

Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball CRAZY Sock Yarn

Sorry about the quality and location of the pictures.

I even had to sneak in and unveil the computer to get to you all.

This sock yarn with the self-striping was a lot of fun to work with.  It was easier to pick up and put down as I had to run to make a decision.

For all that were worried.  The door did get in that evening just as the rain started to fall and the sun was going down.

As of last night we are out of the bedroom and in other rooms in the house.
Say good-bye to this wallpaper.  It's the last we will ever see of it again...Thank goodness.

It all comes down tomorrow.

The bed has been moved to the center of the room.  What a beast.  I came from my Dad's house in Vail, Colorado.  It's made from an old barn and it's beams.  Don't worry, I was not in the moving process, just managing my boys.

Well, we are getting over the "sticker" shock of making the decision to redo the bath.  Once again, gone is the wallpaper.  Just when I thought I had made all  the decision I needed too.  I go and add this.  I am, my own worst enemy....yes, I am...

So, as I move along through another crazy day.  Just a peek at another striped scarf started last night with the sock yarn.  I am actually using the same stitch on the scarfs as I am doing on THE GRINCH.  But, as you can see the grinch keeps getting put to the side.

Now, to think of a name for this one.  It's sort of giving me that wine/vineyard feeling.  Any suggestions would help, as my brain is in overdrive.

Promised to check in again soon.

And thanks again for all your words and virtual hugs.

Hanging On By a Piece of Thread

Just popping in quickly this morning to say Hi to All-

I'm hanging on by a piece of thread as the saying goes.

Ok, so a piece of yarn.  I have no idea where a spool of thread is around here.

Nice cuticles.... I know....Nerves...

As you can see we are in the midst of.....well, in the midst of.... I have no idea what to call it....
Other than, "In The Midst Of"

My visits to my blog and the reading and commenting on your's may be spottie over the next few weeks.

As of yesterday, we have made a major decision...

We are moving forward with a Master Bath remodel.  I sure don't want to go through this mess again.  So, while "In The Midst Of", we are going to bite the bullet and just get it done.

Oh.... and by the way, they did get the new door in before we went to bed.

One last note:   While "In The Midst OF", I apologize now for any spelling errors or other bleeps in my blog.

Eanie- Meanie- Minie- Moe

Eanie-Meanie-Minie-MOE
Catch a tiger by his toe.
If he hollers let him go.
Eanie-Meanie-Minie-MOE.

So as of this morning, I am back at four projects in the works all at once.  I am having a little brain freeze as to which one I want to work on.  I have no clue why I do this to myself.  I really, really wish I could do all at once, but I just don't have enough hands.

I decided to do one of the all time favorite childrens rythmes to figure which one was "it" for the day.

EANIE

 is a scarf.
I mean we have all seen it.  We all love it.  We all don't know what to do with it, that is unless we are making socks.  This is a ball of Crazy Sock yarn that I am making a ripplie scarf out of.  It almost has a lacie feel to it.  But, love the way it's self-striping.

MEANIE

is another scarf.  Gotta knock out a few Christmas gifts.
This is another self-striping yarn, but a little heavier in a worsted weight.

MINIE
is THE GRINCH.

This one is still hanging out, as I have some time to work on it.  It's not one of my favs, right now.

Lastly, and the winner for the day is.....

MOE is "it"..

Can't believe it myself.  I am soooooooooooooo in the Dog House, as we say around here when in trouble.

But, yesterday, AGAIN I wandered into my local yarn shop.  Some how I just can't leave empty handed, it just doesn't feel right.  They yarn was looking so sad and need to go home with me.

Another new ripple stitch.  I will try to get the pattern up soon.

Good news.... I did ask Tara the owner if she would mind me bringing in my camera next time and taking some pictures for my blog of her unbelieveable shop.  I will try to do that real soon.  You will be amazed at the selection she has.

How did I pick these colors?  Not my normal palette, but fun new variety.

With the Master Bedroom and Bath being remodeled.  I have had to pick an inspirations piece to work from.  This newer carpet did the trick for me.   I'm starting to love some of the jewel tones and there is a lot of color to work with, but it is still some what peaceful and subtle.

I think I have a name already for the winner of the Eanie-Meanie-Minie-Moe.

On Monday, we start with all the windows being replaced.

I'm a little paniced as we have to have everything out of the room.

Which is this afternoon's project.... icks and yuck...

It's not, THE MOE.

After the windows come out.  Down comes this yuckie wallpaper, which was here when we moved in 9 years ago.  Not my colors that's forsure.

Up goes a new coat of Fresh Paint.  Not sure on the color yet.

Are you still waiting for the new blankets name....

Out come the carpet.

I think I have the name.....

In goes the new carpet.

Have you guessed, yet?

Scooter really likes all the colors in the new blanket.

What is a man favorite T.V show that women can just not see the humor in?

Out come all the clothes in the closet.

Up goes all new shelving.

OK,   I have kept you in suspense long enough.

MOE was " it"....

Which helped my come up with the name.

Yep, you are right.

THE THREE STOOGES...

You remember  Larry, Curly and MOE.....

Amazing how I got from a childhood nursery rhyme to the Three Stooges all before my first cup of coffee.

So, here is a little tidbit on the rhyme....

One major theory about the origins of the rhyme is that it is descended from Old English or Celtic counting, as can be seen in the East Anglian Shepherd's count, "Ina, mina, tehra, methera" or the Cornish "Eena, mea, mona, mite".[1] However, the first record of the modern rhyme is from America, where, as early as 1815 children in New York are said to have repeated the rhyme.

It can be said that this one is both English and American.

What is your version, if different.  Let me know.

Off to work on the removel from the bedroom, so I can get back to work on

THE THREE STOOGES.

Circus Parade Tutorial - Fun New Ripple Stitch

Well, here we go, such as it may be.

A few of you have asked for a tutorial for the

CIRCUS PARADE  (C.P)

Did I tell you all that this picture that Scooter took made it into Flickr Explore on the 8th and my best number yet #92.  Yipppppppppppeeeeeee.  Of course, I told Mr. S, so as to encourage him to help me take more.

So here we go.....

I am going to give you all  the directions first.  All my pictures did not turn out great.  And most importantly they are going to look strange to many of you.

Remember, I'm a LEFTIE

....   So now you will feel what I feel everytime I look at a Rightie tutorial.  We have to flip everything in our minds.   But if you understand the basic stitches this will be a new easie-peasie ripple of hills and valleys.

This is from the Leisure Arts book..... 154 Crochet Wave Patterns.  Designed by Darla Sims.

#28 TumbleWeed. Page 35

The one thing I did change on the C.P was that I did not do two rows with each color like we have done on most of  our ripples.  I was using up some stash yarn to from THE DOOR... 23 colors in all.

Here we go with the directions first.....

Note: Uses MC and CC in the following sequence.  Pattern says.. 2 Rows each of MC,CC: repeat from * for stripe sequence.  I ignored and just did one row with each color, but for the pattern MC and CC are the colors.

With MC, chain a Multiple of 6 + 4 chs.   (I did 18 X 6 + 4  = 112 chs.)

ROW 1 (Right Side): 3 DC in 4th ch from hook(3 skipped chs counts as first DC), skip next 2 chs, sc in next ch, *skip next 2 chs, 3 DC in next ch, SC, HDC, DC) around the post of last DC made, skip next 2 chs, SC in next ch: repeat from * acroos to last 3 CHS, skip next 2 Chs, 4DC in last CH.

Switch colors. Knot on new color.

ROW 2:  CH1, TURN: SC in first DC, skip next 3 DC, 3DC in next SC (in the valley) (SC, HDC, DC) around th epost of last DC made, skip next 3 sts, SC in next DC (top of hill) * skip next 2 DC, 3DC in next sc, (SC,HDC, DC) around post of last DC made, skip next 3 sts, SC in next DC: repeat from * across.  Finish off.  Or in my case, change colors again.
ROW 3:  With right side facing, join CC (new color) with slip st in first SC: CH3 (counts as first DC), 3DC in same st as joining, skip next 3sts, SC in next DC, *skip next 2 DC, 3DC in next SC, (SC,HDC,DC) around the post of last DC made, skip next 3 sts, SC in next DC: repeat from * across to last 3sts, skip next 2 DC, 4 DC in last SC.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 for pattern, working a new color each row.

Looks a lot harder than it is.  I mean if The Garden Bell can do this, anyone can.
Now for the picture of the walk through.
Flip your brains over to a leftie mode.
For the purpose of the tutorial I did a basic to be frogged later. Did not tie off to change colors.

DON"T BE SCARED BY ABOVE.

Remember Easie-Peasie

Here is the picture in the book and I tried to pick some colors to contrast.  I probably would not use these particular colors in this order.

Here are the 3DC in the 4th from CH

Skip next 2 CHs, SC in next CH

Skip next 2 CHS, 3 DC in next CH

Here is the trickie one around the post with a SC

Then around the same post with the HDC

Then the final of the 3 around the post.... the DC.

It's a basic 6 stitch sequence   3DC, then to the last post, SC, HDC, DC

Skip 2 CHS, the SC

The will start to create what I call the Hills and Valleys

When you get to the last 3 CHS,  Skip 2  and 4DC on last CH.

Change colors with a slip stitch. Ties together.

CH 1, Turn SC in first DC..... sorry blurrrrrrrrie.

Skip next 3DC, down in the valley, 3 DC,

Then your SC, HDC, DC all around the post.  6 Sts. total in the valley.

Skip 3 DC, 1 SC at the top of the hill

Follow pattern all the way across to the last  6 stitch sequence in the valley

Skip last 3 sts, and SC in final SC.  Slip St and Change Colors.

Ch3, Turn 3 DC in same St as Joining

Here is the 3 DC in same st.

You are off and running changing colors each row.  Up and down,  Hills and Valleys.

Hope this helps.  I know I need to get better and taking the pictures.  I can't seem to figure out how to get a good shot inside as the flash goes off and cast a nasty shadow.

Who know what I have up my sleeve next.

But, I'm sure I will find something.

If you have any questions at all let me know and I would be happy to help you.

Also, if you do try this pattern please, please let me know I would love to see and comment.

Have fun....... Now back to THE GRINCH.
